New Images

The last few weeks I have been working hard on preparing things for my upcoming exhibition in May. Today I finally can present you some results. Some of the new images will be part of the show.

Abstract Architecture – Here are two new galleries. Both show very abstract architecture from around the world. The first one focuses on patterns, lines and structures in buildings. The second one, called UP!, shows architecture from a low vantage point.

London - This one is a small new gallery showing some of my very recent work from London. As London does not have a real beautiful Skyline itself, I focused on certain areas in London.

Singapore – Most of these photographs were created during my trip in June, 2011. Singapore is a vastly growing city and changes to the skyline are happening quite rapidly. I personally think Singapore now has quite a remarkable Skyline to offer. There are quite a lot of different angles and viewpoints.

Urban Life – Here I can offer you four new galleries. The first one called “Streets of Beijing” features the life and streets from the old districts in Beijing, China. The gallery “Spirits in the Rain” is a collection from all offer the world capturing people in the rain.
The next one is called “Rush Hour” and focuses on New York and it’s busy streets. The last one is a special one. It was done in 2009 during the big sandstorm in Sydney. I was lucky enough to be there to capture some stunning images.

I hope you will enjoy some of the new work. In addition, I want to add, that if you want to see some of it in real life, my upcoming exhibition ”SKY.LINES” in London is the perfect place for it.

Followup on my trip to the Icehotel

Finally, I have some time to talk about my trip to the Icehotel. I can tell you it was once again an amazing experience. It is just incredible what is built up there in Kiruna ever year made from snow and ice. There were many nice designs and I especially enjoyed photographing the church.

This years weather was a bit warmer and so it was easier to work there. (Lasts years -30 weren’t that nice.)

Here are four of my favorite photographs from this years project. The rest can be found in its gallery.

Icehotel 2012 – I’m coming!

Yes! I just finished packing all my equipment for my next project. In the early morning tomorrow I will be leaving far north to Kiruna, Sweden. That’s where the famous Icehotel is built from scratch every year. The hotel is made completely out of snow and ice that is taken from the clear waters of a nearby lake. Every December artists from around the world travel to Kiruna to make their mark by designing and making a entire hotel.

I will have the chance to work there for a few days photographing these amazing designs and their art. Every time I go, it is an mind blowing experience and I can’t wait to see how this year’s hotel, bar and ice church turned out.

I had the honour of working with the Icehotel last year and I attached my two favourite images of that trip. All the other ones can be found in my gallery.

Two new galleries are online

Today I finished a whole new set of images which I divided up into two galleries. All of them feature types of Urban Street Life from various places around the world.

The first is gallery is called Moments from our Life which features a selection of street scenes focusing on the people in the photographs. All images have been captured in the past few years at places such as Los Angeles, Chicago and Singapore.

I named the second gallerie Street Scenes which shows photography also of different cities, yet it focuses on a specific scene or moment rather than the people.

Below you can find one photo of each gallery.

Sony NEX 7 – Part 1

The wait finally ended a few days ago, when I received a call from my local dealer, who told me that my new Sony Camera had arrived. So I rushed to pick it up and once back unwrapped at home, I had a closer look. Here are my first observations about the camera:

  • The camera is extremely small and light. Especially when comparing it with my 5DII or Leica M9 the difference, which is quite amazing.
  • Even though the camera is relatively small, it has a good feeling to it. You can really feel the high quality that it shows.
  • The navigation through the menus takes some time getting used, when having used other cameras from other brands. However, once you play with it for a bit, you get the hang the systems logic pretty soon.

Along with the camera I ordered three lens adapters from NovoflexLeica M, Leica R and Contax. These adapters have a great build quality and fit perfectly to the lenses as well as the camera body.

Using these adapters, I immediately noticed that the NEX 7 felt a much lighter compared to the M9 with the same lens attached. From my direct weight comparison between the M9 and NEX 7 – both having the Leica-M 35mm Summarit attached – the Leica M9 weights 865g while the NEX 7 weights only 582g

I will take the camera with on a few jobs and will come back to you with a more extensive review on its practical usage.

You can see a few images of the camera below. ( Sony Nex 7 – Leica M9 – Canon 5DMk2 | Sony Nex 7 and Zeiss Distagon 21mm)
